How-To

How to Remove Stains From Car Seats

Most fresh stains respond to the right approach. Here is what works, and what makes things worse.

Act quickly and blot, never scrub

Fresh spills sit near the surface. Blotting with a clean, dry towel lifts liquid out of the fibers. Scrubbing does the opposite — it pushes the stain deeper and can distort the fabric weave permanently.

Cloth upholstery

  • Blot up as much liquid as possible first
  • Work from the outside of the stain inward to avoid spreading it
  • Use minimal moisture — soaking a seat invites odor problems later
  • Always test any product in a hidden area first

Leather and vinyl

Leather needs gentler handling. Skip household all-purpose cleaners and anything with strong solvents; they strip protective finishes and can cause discoloration and cracking over time. A dedicated leather cleaner used sparingly is the safer route.

When to stop and call

Set-in stains, large spills, dye transfer, and anything that has been sitting for weeks generally need extraction and time that home methods cannot provide. That is what deep interior cleaning is for. Some staining is permanent, and we will tell you honestly before we start.
